Face off Episode Three Highlights

Episode Three of Face Off is entitled 'Rock Your Body'. There are two makeup challenges in this episode, a foundation challenge - which is a tag team challenge with teams of 3 and then the Spotlight Challenge, where teams were paired up and had to body paint models to blend into a background image.

The foundation challenge was an interesting look at team work and the skills of picking up a theme quickly and completing it. Each team had a model with special effects contact lenses that were to be the motivation for the full face makeup. Each team only had one member able to see the model at a time. So it was up to the first team member on each team to start a clear path to their vision and then each consecutive member to come in and continue and then finish the same look. Beki and her team won for their vision and execution of their Alien makeup and prosthetics.

For the spotlight challenge, it was very artistically driven as each team received a backdrop to work with and two models - one had to be camouflaged into the backdrop and the other incorporated into the picture. Guest judge is hip hop artist Asher Roth and the winner will be chosen as his new album cover.

Each of the teams come up with amazing album covers and do their best to fit into a theme for Asher Roth's new album. Brea and Matt run into a huge road block when Brea's model gets sick and passes out with only minutes left in the competition. She is allowed to get a new model and an additional 6 hours to complete it, but means that she had to pull double duty and finish by herself.

Her hard work ends up paying off as their team wins the challenge with their amazing sneaker mural!

Mehron Makeup Feature

2012 will be Mehron's 85th year in business selling professional, high quality makeup that we are proud to feature on StageAndTheaterMakeup.com.

Mehron was founded in 1927 by Mehron Melik who began producing Professional Theatrical Makeup by hand for the performers of his day. Over eight decades later, Mehron is still producing Professional Performance Makeup with quality ingredients in the USA and you can find the full line of Mehron makeup on StageandTheaterMakeup.com. Mehron Makeup has applied the knowledge it has gained from eight decades of Professional Theatrical Makeup production to all aspects of Makeup Application, including the Makeup Applicators, Makeup Removers and Professional Makeup Accessories.

Mehron Melik founded Mehron Inc. in 1927 in a small New York City loft just off Broadway, in the heart of the theatre district. For years, Mehron catered to the makeup needs of performers in theatre, vaudeville, burlesque, opera, ballet, and silent films. His staff of as many as 10 “Mehron Ladies” would fan out each evening to different theatres and offer cosmetic products and application advice to the entertainers before their performances.

When WWII began, Mehron devoted his talents and expertise to helping severely disfigured soldiers learn how to use makeup products to camouflage their scars, wounds and burns. Mehron traveled from New England to Virginia for nearly 2 years visiting Veterans’ hospitals. This selfless donation of his time and talent aided hundreds of returning servicemen in picking up the pieces of their lives after the war.

During the 1950’s and 1960’s, the entertainment business began to migrate across the United States. In order to keep pace, the distribution of professional quality makeup products shifted to retail outlets. Hundreds of stores became Mehron dealers and the era of the “Mehron Ladies” was over.

In 1971, Mehron’s son, Martin Melik, assumed control of the family business. He implemented new methods of promotion and distribution, expanded and improved the Mehron product line, and ushered in a new era of aggressive growth and customer service.

Milestone Anniversaries of the Mehron brand are a celebration of the dedication it takes to maintain the leadership in the performance makeup industry. Today, many large productions including Blue Man Group, Cirque du Soleil, The Metropolitan Opera, Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus, and The American Ballet Theatre depend on Mehron products to look their best.

We continue to thoughtfully build our product line to meet the demands of today’s marketplace. We want to take this opportunity to thank each of our customers for their loyalty and support of the Mehron brand and we look forward to many more years of growth and success.

Today, Mehron makes products specifically for commercial theatrical, educational, motion picture, television, video, opera, clowning, Halloween, and face painting.
